As a Banff wedding, elopement & proposal photographer, I get to witness love stories unfold in some of the most breathtaking places on Earth — surrounded by towering peaks, turquoise lakes, and ever-changing mountain light. Every season in the Canadian Rockies has its own charm, but there’s something truly special about that very first snowfall of the year.
Meeting Mitch — and now his fiancée — happened on that magical day when the snow first began to fall in Banff. It was a Banff surprise proposal at Peyto Lake, one of the most stunning viewpoints in the Rockies, and of course… I had to hide again!
Mitch had planned every detail perfectly to make the moment unforgettable. The only challenge? He took his time — and by the end, I’m pretty sure my fingers were turning purple! But honestly, I would do anything for a great photo, especially one filled with so much genuine love and emotion.
There’s something absolutely magical when that first snow blankets the mountains while the lakes remain vibrant green and the trees still hold onto their yellow and red autumn leaves. The mix of colors, the crisp air, and the quiet beauty of the landscape create the perfect setting for a proposal. Don’t you think?
Capturing Mitch’s proposal in that moment felt like stepping inside a snow globe — peaceful, cinematic, and full of love. Moments like these remind me why I adore photographing proposals and engagements in Banff National Park — every story is different, and every scene feels like a dream.
