Some moments feel straight out of a storybook — and Evan and Grace’s proposal at Lake Minnewanka in Banff was exactly that.
The first snow had just touched the trees that morning, wrapping Banff in the softest, most romantic blanket of white. It was quiet, peaceful, and almost unreal — the kind of day that makes you stop and breathe it all in.
Evan had been planning this moment for years. He told Grace they were simply going for a walk by Lake Minnewanka, one of Banff’s most scenic spots. But little did she know, I was already there waiting in the cold, lol, camera in hand, to capture the surprise of a lifetime.
When he got down on one knee, the mountains reflected perfectly in the lake, the snow on the trees and Grace’s reaction said it all — pure, joyful disbelief. And comparing to all other proposal, she was really not expecting it! It was just so perfect!
But the surprises didn’t stop there. After we finished our lakeside portraits, Evan revealed that he had planned an unforgettable week at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, one of the most iconic and romantic hotels in the Canadian Rockies and Banff.
We continued their Banff proposal photoshoot around and in the hotel — the grand stone walls dusted with snow, cozy winter light spilling through the windows, and laughter echoing through every hallway.
After our session, Evan and Grace continue celebrating this beautiful occasion with a romantic dinner inside the Banff Springs Hotel, still glowing from the magic of the day.
Moments like these are why I love being a Banff proposal and wedding photographer — being able to witness the quiet joy, the emotion, and the once-in-a-lifetime memories that couples will cherish forever.
